Volunteers Wanted!
Become a Volunteer Professional with Midwest Search Dogs:
At Midwest Search Dogs, we rely on dedicated volunteers to help us carry out critical search and rescue missions. Our volunteer professionals play an integral role in supporting our mission to provide emergency response services to those in need. We welcome dedicated individuals who are passionate about search and rescue to join our team. Our teams consists of K9 Handlers, Ground Searchers, and Support Personnel.
SAR is far from a hobby, club, or a "sometime" activity. Please take some things into consideration to ensure you are the right fit for this lifestyle.
Time Commitment:
Members are required to attend regular training sessions, which take place 6 times per month. We have an attendance requirement to meet to achieve and maintain deployable status.
Physical Requirements:
Members must be in excellent physical condition in various terrain and weather conditions. The role requires stamina for long periods of activity and the ability to lift or manage equipment when necessary.
Financial Requirements:
Members may be asked to cover their personal travel and equipment expenses. Some funding options may be available through the team, but volunteers are responsible for their own gear. K9 handlers are responsible for the care and training expenses of their K9, including food, gear, and any necessary medical treatments. Some funding support may be available through the team, but most costs are the responsibility of the handler.
If you think you would be an asset to the SAR community and our team, please fill out the form below to schedule a training visit.
